RAI Public Anthropology Fellowship

From 2022-23, Elena Liber and Yathukulan Yogarajah held the Fellowship in Public Anthropology from the Royal Anthropological Institute.

The purpose of this fellowship was to introduce anthropology to a wide audience, to share the insights from our research, and to contribute to important conversations happening in the world around us.

Our project focused on using TikTok and YouTube to communicate about anthropology. To show what it’s like to research and study anthropology, what it’s like to be an anthropology student, and what it’s like to be an anthropologist. Check out some of the outputs from thefellowship below, and if you want to follow what we’re getting up to follow our TikTok Account: @TheTikTokAnthropologists.

Anthropology and Migration: A walk through East Ham with Dr Malte Gembus

What does an anthropologist actually do? We met up with with Dr Malte Gembus from the AIMEC Project to talk about his work. Malte took us for a walk around his field site in East Ham and discussed ideas about migration, community and what it is like to be an anthropologist. If you are interested in the work Malte is doing please check out the AIMEC website (https://migrantarrival.coventry.ac.uk) and follow their social media (https://twitter.com/MigrantArrival).
